Pear & Blue Cheese Puff Pastry Bites
Delicate puff pastry squares with juicy pear, tangy blue cheese, and a sweet maple reduction for an irresistible holiday appetizer.
Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed and cut into 2-inch squares
1 large pear, thinly sliced
4 oz blue cheese, crumbled
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
Fresh thyme leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Puff Pastry:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Place the puff pastry squares on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Prick each square lightly with a fork to prevent over-puffing.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and puffy. Let cool slightly.
Maple Reduction:
In a small saucepan, heat the maple syrup over medium heat. Allow it to simmer until it reduces by half and thickens slightly, about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.
Assemble the Bites:
Top each puff pastry square with a slice of pear and a few crumbles of blue cheese.
Drizzle each bite with the maple reduction and garnish with fresh thyme leaves for a festive touch, if desired.
