Funnel Cake Bites Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups milk
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups flour
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons sugar
6 tablespoons butter, melted
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Powdered sugar (for garnish)
Directions:
Prepare the Batter:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter until well combined.
Add Dry Ingredients:
Stir in the salt, baking soda, and sugar. Gradually fold in the flour until the batter is smooth and thick.
Prepare the Frying Pan:
Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan, about 1/2 inch deep. Heat on high for 2 minutes, then reduce to medium heat.
Test the Oil:
Drop a small bit of batter into the oil. If bubbles form around the edges, the oil is ready. If not, increase the heat slightly.
Pipe the Batter:
Transfer the batter into a gallon-sized Ziplock bag. Cut a small hole in one corner and gently squeeze the batter into the hot oil, forming 1-2 inch circles.
Fry the Bites:
Fry the funnel cake bites until golden brown on one side, then flip using a slotted metal spatula and cook until the other side is golden brown.
Drain and Garnish:
Place the fried bites on paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
Serve:
Serve the funnel cake bites warm, optionally topped with whipped cream or fresh fruit for extra flavor.
